Bold Negroni, Creamy Salads, and Grilled Octopus at a Longstanding Tapas Bar

Volver Tapas Bar, tucked away at Luisenstraße 41, has been around for 16 years—and I only just gave it a try. Overall, I was pleased, though the current prices differ noticeably from those still listed on the restaurant’s website.

The house wine (€8 for 0.2L) was excellent, and the list of wines by the glass is impressively extensive. Still, I followed up with a Negroni (€9.50), which delivered a rich, punchy flavor thanks to a bold vermouth.

I ordered the potato and tuna salad—nicely creamy, though a bit more tuna would’ve been welcome. The grilled octopus (€21) was truly delicious, but I did wish the portion was larger for the price. Dessert? A standout crema catalana with a perfect sugar crust.

The atmosphere is charming despite the presence of a TV screen, and the service is attentive and friendly. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 6 PM to 11 PM.
