Schrippen-Dirk
Schrippen-Dirk at Friedrichstraße 95: Berlin’s Retro Gem for Sweet Snacks and Soljanka
June 2023 Update: As the warmer months roll in, you might find yourself questioning whether you really need a hot meal at lunch. One of my go-to alternatives is Schrippen-Dirk’s selection of sweet treats. Think rice pudding with fruit coulis, creamy quark with fresh fruit, or just a refreshing mix of fruit and mango lassi—all served in generous cups for €4. Schrippen-Dirk is open from morning until early afternoon and located in the lobby of the Internationales Handelszentrum at Friedrichstraße 95.
September 2021 Note: Schrippen-Dirk also serves up what I still consider the best Soljanka in Berlin. Alongside that, you’ll find a rotating lunch menu priced between €5 and €10, plus hearty sandwiches, filled rolls, cakes, and more. What really stands out is the interior—modern yet nostalgic. If you’re too young to remember WMF cafés or the Palast der Republik, this is your stylish glimpse into the past. Open from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with entry via Friedrichstraße 95 or Planckstraße. The restaurant’s website includes the weekly menu and more details.
