Sag mir wo die Blumen sind Café
Flowers, Peace Songs, and Breakfast from 7 AM: A Hidden Gem in Berlin’s Regierungsviertel
March 2024 Update: If you’re in the government quarter and looking to start your day early, Sag mir wo die Blumen sind in Albrechtstraße 9 opens as early as 7 AM on weekdays. The coffee is reliably good, and you’ll find a solid selection of breakfast options—ranging from simple open-faced rolls and muesli to a hearty plate of scrambled eggs with bacon and salad for €9.50. And if you’re feeling indulgent first thing in the morning, yes, there’s cake too.
June 2023 Note: This café also serves ice cream (€1.80 per scoop), though I wasn’t wowed by the coffee and pistachio flavors I tried. Honestly, skip the ice cream and treat yourself to one of their excellent cakes instead. I had a buttery apple-almond tart last time, and it was fantastic. The coffee? Still very good.
May 2022 Observation: The café’s name may evoke peace songs that feel a bit out of step with the times, but here, it fits—quite literally. Tables are adorned with fresh flowers, and from the courtyard seating, you get a tranquil view of greenery. Located at Albrechtstraße 9 and open weekdays from 7 AM to 6 PM, the café serves breakfast, great coffee, homemade cakes, and ice cream. I especially recommend the brownie torte filled with vanilla cream. Service is warm and friendly.
