Sushi for the Political Crowd: Ishin in Berlin-Mitte Delivers Quality and Consistency
August 2023 Update: Ishin’s Mittelstraße location is well-known as the sushi spot for Berlin’s political scene. But don’t overlook its quieter sibling on Charlottenstraße, just past Leipziger Straße. It’s smaller, brighter, and even offers a few outdoor seats. Lunchtime is just as busy, the menu is identical, and the food is just as satisfying.
A personal favorite? The Take Menu at the lunch price of €11.40—varied, fresh, and filling. Plus, a complimentary cup of green tea is always included with your meal. You’ll find more details on the chain’s official website.
June 2022 Note: I previously reviewed Ishin at Mittelstraße 24 during the pandemic, and now business is back in full swing. The team is well-organized, and even during lunch hours, you’ll usually find a seat after a short wait. In central Mitte, Ishin remains a top pick for quality sushi that won’t break the bank. The Ume Menu (5 Nigiri + 6 Maki) for €7.60 is perfect if you’re not super hungry—and yes, green tea is free. Open daily from 12:00 to 8:30 PM.
