Flamingo Fresh Food Bar
Lunch with a View: Fresh Pasta and Coffee by the Spree
September 2023 Update: It had been a while since I last visited Flamingo Fresh Food Bar—mainly because €13.50 for a self-service lunch felt a bit steep. But last week I gave it another go, and it was worth it. I had a veal Bolognese with fresh Garganelli pasta, topped with Parmesan and served alongside a baby leaf salad. The quality is still excellent—no complaints at all.
Beyond the daily lunch specials, Flamingo also offers a variety of soups, sandwiches, desserts, and cakes. The coffee is great, and the outdoor seating offers lovely views of the Spree and the Federal Press Office. You’ll find Flamingo at Neustädtische Kirchstraße 8, open on weekdays from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Menus are available on the restaurant’s website.
March 2021 Note: If you’re near Friedrichstraße station and on the hunt for a solid lunch, Flamingo delivers. At the time, the daily special (with a small salad) was priced at €10.70. There was also a selection of soups, salads, cakes, and sandwiches—all thoughtfully packaged for take-away. If you’d rather dine outdoors, there are plenty of seats with a view of the Spree near the Press Office. And yes, they brew a great cup of coffee.
