Café Libre
Relaxed Focaccia, Quiches & Take‑Away Beer Near Bernauer Straße
Cafe Libre is a daytime café and Späti in one—meaning while you can’t drink the chilled beer on-site, you’re welcome to take it away. Ideal spot for lunch or afternoon treats: they offer a variety of focaccias (my pick: the one with tyrolean speck—briefly toasted to bring out its flavor), quiches, soups, and a tempting selection of sweet pastries. If your favorite isn’t in the display case, the friendly staff will happily whip it up fresh in the kitchen.
The café has Wi‑Fi, though the tabletops are a bit uneven—expect your laptop to slide unless you shuffle it now and then. Outdoor seating comes with an iconic view of the Bernauer Straße “wall” memorial.
Opening hours: Monday closed; Tuesday–Friday 10am–6pm; Saturday–Sunday 11am–6pm. For full menus and info, head to their website.
