New Italian Comfort in a Familiar Spot on Charlottenstraße
There’s a new Italian restaurant at Charlottenstraße 35—Amon—occupying the former site of the long-running Maultasche. I tried the Spaghetti Carbonara and was quite satisfied. At €17, it’s not exactly cheap, but fair for dinner service in Mitte. Lunchtime pasta dishes are more affordable, priced between €10 and €12.
For dessert, I had Cannoli (pastry filled with cream) for €6. It was decent, though I’ve had better. A definite plus: they serve Moretti on tap—€4.50 for 0.4L—and house wine by the glass is €7.50 for 0.2L. The chairs may look uncomfortable, but don’t be fooled—they’re surprisingly pleasant to sit in.
The back room is available for reservations, seating up to 30 guests (or 16 at a single table). Opening hours: Tuesday to Thursday from 12 to 10 PM, and Friday to Saturday from 5 to 11 PM. Full menu and details are available on the restaurant’s website.
